CSG Landscaping earns 16 SALI Awards of Excellence, including three prestigious trophy awards

CSG Landscaping has been recognised with 16 SALI Awards of Excellence in 2026, including three prestigious trophy awards that celebrate innovation, creativity and technical excellence across South Africa’s landscaping industry.

Presented by the South African Landscapers Institute (SALI), the Awards of Excellence are widely regarded as the highest benchmark for professional landscaping in the country. Projects are judged against rigorous standards covering technical execution, workmanship, environmental sensitivity and long-term sustainability rather than against one another, making each award a reflection of an absolute standard of excellence.

This year’s recognition spans a broad range of disciplines, from landscape construction and specialised turf projects to long-term maintenance and interior plantscaping, highlighting the depth and diversity of CSG Landscaping’s capabilities.

Among the highlights was the Bristlecone Trophy for Most Innovative and Original Use of Plant Material, awarded to The Houghton in Johannesburg.

According to the judges, few landscapes demonstrate plant knowledge and creative vision as confidently as this exceptional project. They praised the diverse and richly layered palette of indigenous species, noting how texture, colour, structure and seasonal interest have been carefully balanced to create an immersive landscape experience.

Judges also highlighted the meticulous attention given to every planting zone and the exceptional maintenance standards that have ensured the estate continues to mature with grace while remaining true to the original design vision. The result is a landscape of remarkable depth and character that reflects both horticultural expertise and an unwavering commitment to quality.

The Houghton was also awarded a Double Gold Award in the Landscape and Turf Maintenance category. Judges described the estate as a richly layered botanical landscape where every space reflects exceptional horticultural knowledge and meticulous attention to detail.

CSG Landscaping’s success extended to KwaZulu-Natal, where Gateway Mall Phase 2 in Umhlanga earned two of the industry’s highest honours. The project received the Husqvarna Trophy for Best Interior Plantscaping Installation and the Floriculture Trophy for Best Interior Plantscaping Maintenance.

Judges described the project as a benchmark for excellence in green design, demonstrating how interior landscaping can elevate public spaces into inspiring and sustainable destinations. They noted that the interior landscape has been maintained in a way that preserves the original design intent while creating a tranquil and welcoming environment for visitors.

Beyond the trophy winners, several other projects received top honours.

Double Gold Awards were awarded to Barlow Park Retail Phase 1, Nexus Link Park, Hertford Office Park and The Houghton.

Gold Awards were presented to Eagle Canyon Golf Estate Clubhouse and Abbotts High School Centurion, while Silver Awards were awarded to Pinnacle College Ridgeview Sports Field, 15 Alice Lane Towers and Copperleaf Golf Estate.

Additional recognition was received for Standard Bank Global Leadership Centre, Oxford Erven, Dainfern Square, JP Morgan Chase South Africa and Glencore South Africa.

The judges praised a number of projects for thriving planting, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality landscapes despite demanding construction conditions and complex project requirements. Several maintenance projects were recognised for the pride, consistency and strong sense of ownership demonstrated by CSG Landscaping’s site teams.

The breadth of awards reflects CSG Landscaping’s ability to deliver excellence across every stage of the landscape lifecycle. From construction and irrigation to specialised turf installations, interior plantscaping and ongoing maintenance, the company continues to create and maintain environments that enhance commercial properties, estates, educational facilities and public spaces.

Receiving 16 SALI Awards of Excellence in a single year is a significant achievement, but perhaps more importantly, it is a reflection of the relationships CSG Landscaping has built with its clients and the expertise of the people responsible for bringing these spaces to life.

As the industry’s highest standards continue to evolve, these awards reaffirm CSG Landscaping’s commitment to delivering landscapes that combine technical precision with creativity and long-term environmental stewardship.

For CSG Landscaping, the recognition is a testament to the passion, knowledge and dedication that continue to shape award-winning landscapes across South Africa.
